West Chicago Avenue

Surprises inside the West Chicago Avenue Branch Library. It's less than one year old, built on a street with police department blue light cameras in view. Down the block from a fire house and a city medical clinic. Never was a branch here before last year. Friendly and beautiful, with hidden public art.

I wasn't expecting to stumble on art on this stretch of Chicago Avenue. I had to drive around awhile to park, the small lot was full and Chicago Avenue had no spaces. I went around in circles on one way streets, ending up on Cicero, which is just one block east and circling around. I didn't want to be too far from the library, as I am cautious near the blue lights. Finally parked in the lot- not a space, but out of the way of traffic.
When I entered the light filled space, I noticed the pieces on the wall under the windows.

The 8 Circles of Circuitious Roots
By Gregory Gomez

Here are 2 of the circles, the first is a DaVinci Circle from Mathematics

The next is a Mayan Circle, a part of the Mayan Calendar.

There are 8 different sculptures around the room under the windows. Go and see the others. They are amazing.
